Austin David Crusie, of Moore, Oklahoma, died August 25, 2017, at his home in Moore, Oklahoma. Born January 9, 1941 in South Salem, Ohio to Eugene Jae and Mildred Lenora Hall Crusie, who preceded him in death. Austin is survived by sister Rose Mary Crusie Prichard and husband Stephen of Beallsville, Ohio; brother Daniel Lee Crusie and wife Janet, of Leesburg, Florida; and sister Kathryn Mae Crusie Mincey and husband Michael of South Salem, Ohio. In addition, Austin has several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
A follower of Jesus Christ, Austin was of the Wesleyan/Armenian persuasion and a member of First United Methodist Church of Oklahoma City, OK at the time of his death.
Mr. Crusie graduated from Buckskin Valley High School (Ohio) in 1959. He attended Morehead State University (Kentucky) where he earned a BA in English, Geography, and Agriculture, an MA in English, and an MA in Secondary Education. While at MSU, Mr. Crusie gained membership in Lambda Tota Tau Literary Honor Society, Phi Delta Kappa Education Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and was presented with the Outstanding Graduate Student of English award. His teaching career included Kingston-Union Elementary (Ohio), Zane Trace Jr. High (Ohio), and Highland East Jr. High (Moore, OK).
Mr. Crusie was a Life Member of the National Education Association and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. In lieu of flowers, Austin requests memorial donations be made to his favored organizations: The Mission Society (Norcross, Georgia); The Salvation Army (any location); FARMS International (Clarissa, Minnesota); The American Bible Society (Washington, D.C.); and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma (OKC).
A graveside service and interment will be held at the Moore Municipal Cemetery on Friday September 1, 2017 and 3:30 p.m.
