Barbara's Story

Barbara Lavarnway was born May 3, 1950, in Oklahoma City, to Thomas and Georgia London. She passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014. She retired from General Motors in Oklahoma City where she was very active in United Auto Workers Local 1999. She served as recording secretary. She also served as chair for the National Women’s Political Caucus. After retirement, Barbara centered her life on her family and friends. Her greatest joy was caring for her son, Greg. She loved doing for others. She was a true servant of the Lord. Survivors include two sons, Floye Lavarnway and Greg Lavarnway; one grandson, Dillon Lavarnway; her mother, Georgia London; three brothers and two sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Thomas London and two nieces, Dedra London and Hope Laffoon. Funeral services were Feb. 15, 2014, under the direction of Moore Funeral and Cremation, at Highland Baptist Church in Moore. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
