Barbara's Story

Barbara Jean Smith, 70, of Moore, passed away Feb. 9, 2015. She was born July 10, 1944, in Purcell, to Jake and Fern (Schrader) Langford. Barbara enjoyed shopping, especially antique shopping. She also enjoyed playing Yahtzee. Barbara loved the beach at South Padre and feeding the seagulls and going fishing at Port Aransas. She loved going to the movies with her family. Barbara enjoyed going out to dinner and her favorite was going to eat shrimp. She loved ice cream and cookies, and couldn’t get enough. Her first love was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Barbara was a very loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Barbara is survived by one daughter, Richie Shelton and husband, Mike of Moore; one son, Greg Horner and wife, Shannon of Dibble; six grandchildren, Blake Shelton of Dibble, Jarrett Shelton of Moore, Justin Taylor of Jones, Meagan Shelton of Moore, Britnie Horner of Blanchard and Nicole Horner of Dibble; four great-grandchildren, Rayleigh Taylor of Jones, Jaxxon Shelton of Dibble, Tucker Shelton of Dibble and Jacelyn Shelton of Noble; five siblings, Bill Langford and wife, Romar of Blanchard, Gail Poland-Chastain and husband, Larry, Judy Ketchum of Purcell, Edna Towler and husband, Billy of Dibble and Jake Langford of Dibble; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Fern Langford; her husband, Danny Smith; and one sister, Jackie Beverly. Funeral services for Barbara will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, 120 South Broadway, Moore. Services are under the direction of the John M.
