Bessie's Story

Bessie Beatrice Morrison, 93, was born to Billy and Ellen (Morrison) Johnson Sept. 8, 1913 in Bromide. She died Friday, Dec. 29, in Norman. Mrs. Morrison and Robert Wesley Morrison were married Aug. 7, 1930 in Pauls Valley. They made their home in Norman. She was employed with the University of Oklahoma as the head cook at Oklahoma Memorial Union for 36 years before her retirement. Mrs. Morrison loved and lived for her family, they said. Her hobbies included cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Skyridge Free Will Baptist Church and the Autumn Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include her daughter Louise Harper and her husband Daniel of Noble; sons Bobby Morrison and his wife Jeannie of Norman and Larry Morrison and his wife Anita of Moore; nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren with another on the way, numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
