Denise's Story

Denise Renee “Bingy” Hence, 50, of Shawnee, passed away April 24, 2015. She was born March 13, 1965 to Barry Dale and Barbara Dean Shaw in Oklahoma City. Denise was raised Methodist but preferred to study the Bible at home. She married her husband, Thomas Hence II, October 10, 2010 at Turner Falls in Davis, where she grew up. She took pride in achieving her G.E.D. and her administrative assistant’s degree. Denise loved spending time with her family, especially the grandkids. Her hobbies included looking after her kids and especially cooking. She made some of the best fried chicken you ever had in your life and also made an excellent goulash. Denise loved to hate her dog, Mugsy because he had an attitude and so did she. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and kicked its ass! She was preceded in death by her father Barry Shaw; grandparents Dale and Alba Shaw; and Gracie and Alton Sutton. Denise is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughter Misty Kohlmeier and husband Lucas of Moore; daughter Jessica Crain and husband Josh of Oklahoma City; son Dustin Pope and wife Skyla of Oklahoma City; sister Dena Shaw and husband Jody Phipps of McLoud; mother Barbara Gibson; stepfather John Gibson of Bethel Acres; sister-in-law Tricia Hence; sister-in-law Tonya Walorski; father-in-law Ted Pope and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family members and friends. Formal visitation is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore. Funeral services for Denise will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in the John M. Ireland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Moore City Cemetery in Moore. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore.
