Ernest "Pete" William Peters, resident of Norman, died Monday, Oct. 12, at Brookhaven Extensive Care. He was 88. Services were Oct. 16 at the Northeast Baptist Church with Dr. Larry E. Nigh, Pastor of Northeast Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home -- Crematory. Ernest was born Feb. 10, 1921, to John and Mary Peters in Indianola, Neb. He graduated from Wann High School in 1940 and entered the United States Army at Fort Sill in January 1943. He served in the 20th Armored Division as a tank driver in Germany in World War II. He married Jessie Grace Miller May 16, 1946, in Blackwell. He attended Oklahoma A -- M College. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jessie of Norman; daughters, Kathleen Baker and her husband Larry of Moore, Karen Saunkeah and her husband Tom of Norman; grandsons, Joshua Baker and his wife Channing, Peter Baker and his wife Tessa, all of Moore; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Henry, Roy, Rex and Ray; and sisters Lenora, Ruth, Mary, Sara and Anna.
