Glenn's Story

Glenn (Wally) Wallenberg lost his valiant fight against a damaged heart on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.  He suffered a major heart attack 11 days after his mother-in-love, Helen Maxwell, died. He entered the hospital for the final time on Nov. 22, one day after his 64th birthday. He smiled and joked with the nurses and doctors at the wonderful Oklahoma Heart Hospital even as they used the defibrillator (a.k.a. Sparky) on him. He and Sparky became intimately connected as it repeatedly saved his life during his last 21 days. But his heart was weary and on Friday the 13th, even Sparky could not revive it for another time. Wally was a Renaissance man, he loved learning, loved being creative and could do just about anything around the house. He was a woodworker, a stained glass craftsman and a fused glass artist. But his greatest achievement was his family. He leaves his children and their spouses, daughter, Stacie and Zack Prinzo and son, Grant and Allison Wallenberg as a living testament of love. He adored his 10 grandchildren, Max, Gabe, Madison, Helen, Raph, Lily, Will, Felix, Joey and Lucy. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Rita. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Wallenberg and his mother, Jean Wallenberg. His Maxwell family of in-laws, nieces and nephews will miss him, too. His golfing buddy, Charlie Erickson and dear friends Mary and Randy Thompson were so very special in his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Wallenberg Sr. He graduated from U.S. Grant high School in 1968, had a wonderful career at IBM, before retiring to help Rita in her State Farm Agency.
