Jess Robert McCloud, 89, of Moore passed away May 10, 2016. Jess was born April 9, 1927 in Bache, Oklahoma, to Mary E. (Patterson) McCloud and John McCloud Sr. He played football and basketball at Haileyville High School where he graduated from. Jess heard his nation's call and served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. He moved to OKC in 1949 and began his 33-year career at the U.S. Post Office in the Main Branch. He started as a substitute clerk and retired as Sectional Center Director of Mail Processing in 1982. Jess married Betty Jane Pigg on June 6, 1954 and they had 3 children from this union; Sharon, Susie and John. Jess and the family moved to Moore in 1961. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years. He also taught the Crusaders Sunday School Class for years. He enjoyed the fellowship and laughter with the Top of the Hill coffee group. Jess was an avid golfer and after retirement he worked at the Broadmoore Golf Course for 17 years. He also loved OU Football and held season tickets from 1971-2012. He and Betty enjoyed making trips to Dallas, Stillwater, Columbia, and Lincoln to follow the Sooners. He also held season tickets to OU men's and women's basketball games for several years. Jess is survived by his three children; Sharon K. Mabrey, Susie Murray and husband Mike, and John A. McCloud; five grandchildren, Joshua Beddo and wife Kyla, Jeff Beddo and Alisha, Jason Murray, Tiffannie Keiser, Zachery Mc Cloud and wife Melissa; five great grandchildren, Kaylee and Ethan Beddo, Rylee Beddo and Preslie Keiser, and Stevie Beddo; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marylee Wilkerson; brothers-in-law, Clyde Pigg and wife Joanne, Bobby Pigg and wife Mona, and Leon (Doc) Reed; and nieces and nephews, Harold McCloud and wife Marla, Betty Ann Bacon, Howard, Eddie, Philip, Rita, Debbie, Keith, David, Pam, Lori and Joe. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary E. McCloud; wife of 51 years, Betty Pigg McCloud; sister Mary E. McCloud Cantrell; brothers, John McCloud Jr., Wallace M. McCloud, Harold A. McCloud and Joe P. McCloud. Services will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, May 13, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 120 W. Main St., Moore, OK. Interment to follow at the Moore Cemetery. Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home.
