Kathleen's Story

Text size

Kathleen Marie Baker, born in Ponca City, had resided in Moore some 30 years. In her Christian faith, she was a very encouraging member of The Fortieth Street Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, where her husband, Larry Baker, is pastor — a wonderful pastor’s wife. She loved people, as a people-person, and loved to converse — something very endearing to her family. She loved music and singing, as did her church love to hear her sing. She loved rose-gardening, Thunder basketball, her puppy dogs, Zena and Jackson, and cat, Sēpēs. She was a sweet mom and the perfect grandmother, as Nana, and the best friend a husband could ever have. As a homemaker, she always made a house into a home. Wherever she was, her family found, was home. She found with her Avon business a wonderful Christian ministry over the years. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Peters. She is survived by her husband, Larry N. Baker, of the home; her mother, Jessie Peters of Norman; her family, Karen and Thomas Saunkeah of Norman, Wayne and Bobbie Baker of Bull Shoals, Ark., Crisseda and Michael Kelly of Midland, Texas, Joshua and Channing Baker of Oklahoma City, Peter Baker and Kuntessa Baker of Moore, Catherine Christopher Motcheck of Muskegon, Mich., and Cynthia and Nathan Barr of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Megan, Adrieanna, Devin, Tiaunna, Jasmine, Logan, James, Kaitlyn, Mercedes, Cash, Konnar and Paige; and many nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends. Services were Feb. 12 at the Fortieth Street Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Services were under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home. Moore American, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015
