Marcus's Story

Marcus Bertone was born Osvaldo Santos Bertone on Oct. 24, 1947, in Cordoba, Argentina, to Cleonece and Osvaldo Bertone. He passed away in his Oklahoma City home Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was a special man who leaves behind many loved ones. Surviving family includes his wife, Debbi Bertone; two sons, Brad Bertone and Aaron Hart and wife Tasha; and daughter, Genevieve Bertone and husband Will Cunningham. Grandkids include Riley Hart and Viva and Sojourn Cunningham. He also leaves behind a loving sister, Christina Nehring; brother, Richard Garcia and wife Cynthia; and many nieces, nephews, and close relatives that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by one son, Marcus. Mark grew up in Argentina until his teenage years, when he moved to New York City. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He retired as a supervisor in the paint department at the GM plant in Oklahoma City, where he made countless friends. Mark was an avid car lover and enjoyed working on and rebuilding hot rods. His goal in life was to make people laugh. He was successful. He bravely battled lung cancer for almost a year, and fought until the end. Services were Friday, Fe. 6 at Moore Funeral and Cremation in Moore. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to The V Foundation for Cancer Research at jimmyv.org.
