Mildred's Story

Mildred Lenora Hall Crusie, 93, of South Salem, Ohio, passed on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Edgewood Manor in Greenfield, Ohio. She was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Bainbridge, Ohio, the daughter of David Edwin and Grace Mae (Everhart) Hall. Growing up in Bourneville, Ohio, she graduated from Twin High School in 1938. After her marriage on Oct. 7, 1939, to Eugene Jae Crusie, she lived most of her life in Buckskin Township, residing the past several years at Edgewood Manor in Greenfield. Her life’s work was becoming a Proverbs 31 woman, wife and mother, but she retired from food service later in life at Greenfield Schools and the Greenfield Manor. An active member of the South Salem United Methodist Church and the South Salem Garden Club, Mildred was an exquisite cook; a talented gardener; a Bible scholar and consistent witness to her strong faith; a caring neighbor; a counselor to friends and acquaintances; and a mentor to countless young people in her community. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years; a brother, Harry Hall of Chillicothe, Ohio; and two sisters, Thelma Shoemaker of Bourneville, Ohio and Helen Arrington of Chillicothe. She is survived by her four children, including Austin David Crusie of Moore, Rose Mary (Stephen) Prichard of Beallsville, Ohio; Dan (Janet) Crusie of Leesburg, Fla.; Kathryn (Mike) Mincey of South Salem, Ohio; eight grandchildren, including, Matt (Crystal) Prichard, Mark (Shari) Prichard, Derex (Amanda) Crusie, Mary Jane Crusie (Scott) Bass, Sarah Mincey (Steve Chaplin), Jacob (Taylor Bennett) and Samuel (Lyndsey Mitchell) Mincey; and 12 great-grandchildren, including, Wesley and Nicole Prichard, Rachael Prichard, Hayden Crusie, Clayton, Chloe, Colton Bass, Isaac Mincey, Benjamin Mincey, Hiram Mincey, Emil Mincey and Sylvie Mincey-Chaplin. Funeral services were held Aug. 2, at the South Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Malone officiating. Burial followed in the South Salem Cemetery.
