Norma's Story

Norma Nadine Gomme, age 87, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away March 19, 2016. She was born February 2, 1929, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Lloyd "Tex" and Gertrude (Young) Seachrist. Norma loved to talk, her husband, Robert used to tease her and tell her that she would talk to a tree stump because it stood still. She loved listening to music and she loved to sing and play the piano. Norma had a beautiful voice and was part of the "Sweet Adelines." Her favorite music was classical music and she loved Frank Sinatra and Anne Murray. Norma loved going shopping, especially and Wal Mart and Ross. She loved buying Christmas presents early and would hide them so the kids wouldn't find them - and a lot of times, they didn't find them until years later! Norma loved catalog shopping as well. She subscribed to a lot of magazines. She loved kaleidoscopes and had collected stamps and coins. Norma was an avid OU football fan and she loved lighthouses. Norma enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook. Her specialties were Lobster, Cornish Game Hens and Oyster's Rockefeller. Norma graduated from Spur, Texas. She received her Bachelor's Degree from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas and her Master's Degree in Music, at Oklahoma University. Norma was a music teacher in Philips, Texas, Pauls Valley Oklahoma, and Moore, Oklahoma. Following her career in music education, Norma then had her own real estate company, Home 'N Ranch Realty, in Moore, Oklahoma, and it became a family business, which is still going strong to this day. Her first love was spending time with her family. Norma is survived by her 2 sons, James Gomme & fiancée, Kelli Whatley, of Moore and Gordon Gomme & wife, Tina, of Moore; 7 grandchildren, Chelsie Gomme, Harley Martinez, Logan Gomme, Randilyn Gomme, Braden Gomme, Lexi Gomme, and Levi Gomme, all of Moore; 1 great-granddaughter, Harper Ramires, of Moore; 1 sister, Texie Royal & husband, Paul, of Tyler, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tex and Gertrude Seachrist; her husband, Robert; 2 sisters, Betty and Marilyn; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Lynn Gomme. Funeral Services for Norma will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 23, 2016, in the chapel of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, in Norman, OK. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home.
