Russ's Story

Russ Brewer was born Dec. 31, 1947, in Madera, Calif., to Marshall Russ Brewer Sr. and Marylan Amy Lewis. He passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the age of 66. Russ worked as a big truck driver who was never sick for more than 30 years on the road. His hobbies included long road trips, rallies and poker run fundraisers for children on the Harley Davidson. He enjoyed playing the blues on the guitar, drums, harmonica, etc. He also loved cameras and photography. He always had a smile as he indulged in horseplay, playing with kids, fishing, lakes, rivers and making Momma (Starr) happy. He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall Russ Brewer Sr.; and his sister, Sandra Bray. Survivors include his wife, Starr Brewer of the home; mother, Marylan Amy Brewer of Norman; sons Chris Brewer of Citrus Heights, Calif., Michael Todd Brewer of Citrus Heights, Calif., Herschel Smith of Moore, Russell Smith and wife Christa of Moore and Lloyd Smith of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Kenny Brewer and wife Megan of Elk Grove, Calif., and Kelcey Brewer of Elk Grove; nine other grandbabies; one great-grandbaby; niece, Monica “Little Hippie”; lots of nephews; sisters Margaret Peggy Murray and husband Jerry of Patterson, Calif., and Linda Brewer of Norman; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bray of Pauls Valley; brothers Jim Brewer and wife Mary of Noble and David Brewer and wife Christy of Denver; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
