Yvonne's Story

Yvonne Latta, 75, died on Oct. 27, 2013, at her home in Moore. She was born on Oct. 19, 1938, in Shattuck, to Floyd and Ula Fields. She grew up in a little sod house 12 miles north of Gage. She graduated from Gage High School in 1956. After high school, she attended two years of secretarial school at Capital Secretarial School in Oklahoma City. Yvonne met Duane Latta while working in the Social Services Department at Fort Supply hospital in 1957. They married on April 6, 1958, in Woodward. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1959 and shortly after their first daughter, Pam was born on March 19, 1959. They moved to Moore in 1962 and they were blessed with their second daughter, Rhonda, on July 13, 1962. They were happily married for 55 years. Yvonne was a loving stay at home mom to Pam and Rhonda, and in 1973 began babysitting Mandy Homer until 1975, when she went to work as the administrative assistant at the First Christian Church in Moore. She worked there until she retired after 30 years of dedicated service. She also was a member of First Christian Church of Moore for 46 years. She was a member of the Jaycee Jaynes, a member of the Theta Ki Sigma Alpha Epsilon Sorority in Moore and a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on cruises, and her and Duane’s time at the lake house. Yvonne is survived by her husband Duane; two daughters, Pam Hollen and Rhonda Latta, both of Moore; two grandsons, Brandon Hollen and wife Amanda of Fulton, Mo., who are expecting Yvonne’s first great-grandson and Chris Hollen of Moore; two sisters, Carolyn Holloway of Moore and Beverly Woods and husband Vance of Gage; two brothers, Wayne Fields and wife Jennifer of Lake Tahoe and Greg Fields of Oklahoma City; a brother in law, Ronnie Latta; sister in laws, Lyla Richard, Jessie Latta and Janet Latta; a special niece, Vicky Reid; and close friends, Bill and Donna Homer and daughters Mandy and husband Denny and Berri and husband Jack; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ula Fields and her brother, Harold Fields. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at the First Christian Church in Moore. Burial will follow the funeral at the City of Moore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Abiding Memorial Fund at the First Christian Church in Moore or your favorite charity.
